2017 Workshop Series:

We at Kinesia Pilates Studio are Pilates purists. This year we are starting a series of monthly workshops designed to give you a concentrated doses of the technique and movement sequences. We believe that “Knowledge gives Power”, and design our workshops to help you learn how to unlock the potential of Pilates through better understanding of the philosophy and physics.

“Pilates Heart and Soul” Mat + Reformer Essentials

Using the Reformer and the Mat in combination is how the originator of the method got legendary results. In current teacher training this is called “Pilates Systems”, and forms the engine that makes Pilates work. The other apparatus are designed for additional focus on areas that need more training, challenge, and variety.

In this 2-hour workshop we will go over the basic movement sequences on the Reformer and Mat. We will address the principles of technique, why and how to do each movement, personal adjustments/modifications, dynamic and rhythm. Some progressions will also be shown so you can get some looks at things develop into the Intermediate and Advanced work. All Intermediate and Advanced work is based on the skills set here, and once mastered almost any of the progressed movements can be understood from a verbal description alone.

You will also get a look at the engineering inside of the Reformer, learn more about the physics of the springs, and learn how to adjust your positioning to get the best effects.

The Pilates Mat is body-weight exercise which can be done anywhere, and are essential to getting the full benefit of the system. We will go over the introductory mat at this workshop. Look out for more Mat workshops as we prepare for March Matness!

This class is highly recommended as a jumping off point to start in Fundamental Classes, for anyone with an interest in becoming a professional Pilates teacher, or to review the basics in order to perfect your technique.
