Sending Out the Ripples

Small acts.  Simple actions.  The heft of a million grains of sand.  The power of a million drops of water falling on the stone.  Daring to love.  The courage to smile.  We don't see the results, but know in our hearts we have had an impact. 

Every day we choose - what to do, where to go, who to speak with, how we spend our money, in what ways we use the earth's precious resources and how we give back.  Our choices matter each and every day in each and every way. 

We make choices in our business.  Our intent is to nourish people in our community with the most delicious foods possible, supporting our local economy, caring for the land, and having the least negative environmental impact we can manage.  We strive to be fair...to ourselves, our customers, and the natural world.  We work in the kitchen and in our gardens with joy.  We sing and we laugh, whistle and smile.

Tomorrow, on Inauguration day, Amy and I will choose the seeds we'll grow this year.  Tiny seeds will turn into a bountiful harvest.  The harvest will feed many of you and will feed the butterflies and bees, birds and beetles.  We'll march in Boston on Saturday, we'll sign petitions and call our congressional representatives, we'll let our voices be heard.  We will continue to strive to live our values.  May we not forget that each small act, each seed sown, each bold voice, each smile shared and kind interaction matters.
