Waitsfield Elementary School Rocks!

January 19, 2017
While this winter's weather has been far from consistent, we have been incredibly fortunate to have three good winter program days thus far this year. Yesterday's snow was most welcome!

Dear Friends and Families,
This Friday, reports will be sent home with all kindergarten - 6th grade students providing some formal documentation of the skills and qualities students have demonstrated thus far this year. These reports represent a tremendous amount of work from these students as well as  careful reflection and effort from the teachers drafting them.  I encourage families to read through these reports with your children, asking them to highlight that of which they are particularly proud, the places where they feel they have challenged themselves, and what their goals are going forward. Thank you to all for using these reports as a tool to continue to build connections between home and school and ultimately support the positive growth of all of our children.
 Respectfully,      Kaiya Korb

KidsACT is now accepting enrollments for Spring Musical Theater Classes and Summer Musical Theater Camps. All classes and camps take place at the Valley Players Theater on Rt. 100 in Waitsfield.
This spring, students in grades 1-6 will learn stage movement, character development, and strengthen musical skills to present a 30-minute version of the popular musical Seussical. Starting March 9, classes for students in grades 1-3 will take place Thursdays from 3:00-4:00pm and Saturdays from 9:30-10:30am, and classes for students in grades 4-6 will take place Thursdays from 4:00-5:30pm and Saturdays 10:30am-12:00pm. There will be some unified classes in May. The performance will take place on Thursday, May 18 at 5:00 pm.
This summer, students entering grades 1 and 2 can attend a Musical Theater Camp July 24-28 from 9 am to 12 pm daily to perform the short musical play Lemonade.  This clever 20-minute musical is a good introduction for first time theater students. The performance will be at 5 pm on July 28, and is free and open to the public.
Students entering grades 3-7 can attend a Musical Theater Camp July 31-August 4 from 10am to 3 pm daily to perform The Jungle Book, based on the classic story by Rudyard Kipling and the Disney animated film. The performance will be at 6:30 pm on August 4, and is free and open to the public.
A limited number of partial financial-need scholarships are available from the Valley Players, and early registration and sibling discounts are available. At this morning's assembly, our monthly recognitions were given to some students whose acts of kindness, engagement, responsibility and safety stood out over the past month. We work to also recognize students on a daily basis, and in various ways, for practicing these qualities which we've defined as essential expectations to the success of our whole community,
