PASSPORT CLUB:
Next Check is tomorrow!

Now that the snow days are behind us (hopefully for good) we're looking forward to working with your global explorers for tomorrow's passport check.

If you can spare some time tomorrow morning after drop-off we could use a few extra hands! Please just come to the cafetorium. No need to sign up. The "passport check" runs from 8:50am - 11:00am and it’s a really fun way to interact with our great Alameda 2nd-5th graders. We have a blast!

Have some wine to spare for a good cause?

Great! We'll take it!

We're preparing for the Alameda Wall of Wine game of chance at the Alameda Starlight Auction on February 25!  Our goal is to collect 100 bottles of wine valued $20 or higher. Drop off bottles in the office or if you have large quantities (yes, please!!!) contact us for pick up. You may also drop off wine to Devani Scheidler at her home (3124 NE 49th Ave).

Please note: If you are contributing wine you should complete an auction donation form for all wine with the value clearly listed, even if you wish to remain anonymous. Please wrap the completed form around the bottle before leaving it in the office or dropping it at Devani's home. Your donation form is your receipt; so please make a copy at home if needed.

A Call for Advertising Sponsors & Donations for the Alameda Auction

The Alameda Starlight Auction, Alameda's largest annual fundraiser to support staff positions at Alameda and the All Hands Raised Equity Fund, will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the leftbank annex. We are looking for advertising sponsors at all levels ($250-$5,000) and donations of items and experiences for the silent and live auctions. If you can help with either of these, please download and complete a sponsorship form or an item donation form.

Training for Parents: Introduction to Courageous Conversations

The PPS Office of Equity and Partnerships will provide 4 hours of training on the district's framework for racial equity and how parents can use the tools in their own understanding and support of racial equity.  Training will occur on Tues Feb 21 and Mon Feb 27, from 6pm - 8pm in the Alameda Library. A Light dinner will be offered during the training and childcare will be provided through support of your Alameda PTA.  Staff are also welcome to attend.

SCRIP TIP:
New to SCRIP? Start Small.

If you haven't yet participated in our SCRIP program and are curious, give it a try this week! The best way to get started is to buy something small, like a $25 card for someplace you shop weekly...Fred Meyer, Amazon.com or Starbucks, for instance. Every gift card you purchase results in a donation for Alameda!
 

It's really quite easy to get started!

  1. Complete your SCRIP release form
  2. Fill out your SCRIP order form
  3. Write a check payable to Alameda PTA
  4. Turn all of the above into the office or drop it off in the school lobby on Monday mornings.
Orders due by 3:15pm on Monday. Depending on your chosen mode of delivery, you'll then receive your order in your child’s backpack or will be able to pick it up in the office after 3pm Thursday.

Volunteers Needed for the PTA Clothing Center

Alameda will be providing volunteers to help at the PTA Clothing Center at Marshall High School (currently housing Franklin High School) on Monday, February 6 from 9:30-1:30. If you’re able to help, please email christineboyd@comcast.net. If you’re only able to stay for an hour or two, we’re still happy to have your help. The Clothing Center needs many volunteers to help students who are in need of clothing. Thanks so much for considering being a part of this volunteer opportunity.
