CHAPTER 27 NEWS
President’s Message – 2017

Dear IREM Colleagues and Friends,

I am honored to be serving as your 2017 IREM President for Chapter 27, and I am very much excited about this year because I get a chance to work with many talented individuals on the Executive Council, our passionate volunteers, and I also get to meet many of you!

IREM Chapter 27 is ready to present you with a year full of great events, networking, and educational opportunities so please mark your calendars. Here is a sneak peek of some of the things we have in store!

  • We are going to start the year with a complimentary iyp event at the Flatstick Pub in Pioneer Square filled with networking, free drinks, food, and mini golf.
  • We are going to bring you a new class focused on sustainability and energy benchmarking.
  • ARM and CPM classes will be offered throughout the year so make sure to Czech out the class schedule (pun intended!!).
  • And we will also continue hosting some of the all-time favorite events such as the Annual Phil Fehler IREM Golf Tournament and the ICE Conference.

If you are like me, you probably had a few New Year's resolutions. If yours happened to be volunteering and giving back to the community, I would encourage you to consider spending time this year volunteering with IREM. We are always on the lookout for new volunteers and new ideas. No matter what your talents are, I’m sure we have a committee that will suit you.

I would also like to assure you that IREM is here to support you. I will let you in on a little secret. Thanks to the IREM community, we are able to offer scholarships to those in need. If your New Year's resolution happened to be expanding your knowledge and growing in your career (but your bank account is not looking so good after the holidays) consider applying for one of the many scholarships IREM offers to jump start your journey towards ARM or CPM.

To keep up with IREM this year, make sure to look us up on Facebook, LinkedIn, and irem27.org.

Cheers to another exciting year! Na zdravi.

Looking for Volunteers.  IREM REStart.
REStart is devoted to bringing two of the most basic needs—housing and employment—to disadvantaged individuals caught in the cycle of poverty, substance abuse, and domestic violence.  Established by our IREM San Diego Chapter in memory of a daughter and mother who lost their lives in a tragic domestic violence situation, our chapter is embracing this initiative as a meaningful way to engage our membership of committed volunteers by giving back to the community by preparing disadvantaged adults to gain employment in property management.  Want to give back?  Want to hone your presentation and coaching skills?  Please reach out to Sydney Isaac for more information or to volunteer your time and real estate knowledge.

ICON – 2017
We trust all who attended found our first annual IREM ICON event in December to be a tremendous celebration and recognition of a Seattle area ICON.  This program will continue each year in place of our Industry forecast breakfast and we’re always looking for input and nominations for this prestigious honor.  Know anyone?  Send their name, info, and a brief description of why they are a Seattle ICON to Sydney Isaac.  Criteria:  A local and lifelong influencer of Seattle Real Estate who we could honor and whom would talk to our group about their story.  Remember, this is AN ICON; not necessarily THE ICON.

2017 Events Calendar
Be sure to regularly check our Chapter 27 website at http://www.irem27.org/ for the latest news and information on the what, when, and where for IREM Western Washington Chapter 27. This calendar is dynamic and will be updated as new event details emerge.

Monthly Meeting Locations
We’re always looking for new and exciting locations to hold monthly luncheons, tours, and gatherings.  Many of you have attended past meetings at Google, McMenamins, and Zillow and we’re looking for YOUR help and YOUR connections in planning future outings.  Know anyone at Amazon, Starbuck’s, VMAC, Tableau, ShoWare Center, or other places that can get us “in”?  Have a suggestion on an outstanding opportunity where we might host a business meeting, site tour, or luncheon?  If so, please reach out to Christy Mays to discuss and share your ideas.

Have you heard about all the great things happening with our next generation of Property Management Leaders?

IYP will be meeting up monthly to socialize and network with other like-minded driven professionals! Our next event is on January 26th at McMenamins Anderson School. Special guests will include attendees from North Seattle College Real Estate Program.  Be sure to stop by, engage with other young professionals, and meet the new batch of local talent that could be your next hire. Stay tuned for future events and feel free to reach out to Kiel Curtis, Diana Norbury, or Ben Rearick for more information or to suggest a venue.

In the meantime, like iyp on

for the latest updates & events!
