Easter Series #4

Lesson 1972: Passover Seder, Pt.4
There is a roasted egg on the plate, probably added to Seder ritual long after the 1st Passover.
Most likely, eggs crept into Jewish Passover (& Christian Easter) from the Babylonian culture.
Their pagan goddess of fertility was called Ishtar, which gave us the word Easter and egg hunts.
In Passover, we see how bitter our life was before salvation, and our salty tears of repentance.
We were baptized (like crossing the Red Sea); now we wander in the wilderness of this world.
We are waiting for Jesus to take us into the Promised Land, just as Joshua led the Jews.
The name Jesus in English is Joshua. Passover begins our Exodus too; no longer slaves to sin.
The 2nd wine cup of judgment is dripped onto the white plates: 10 red drops, 1 for each plague.
At the Last Supper, during this cup, Jesus said “1 of you will betray me”. Judas left “to buy food”. John 13:21-30
The 2nd cup comes before the meal is served, then the Jewish blessing comes after the meal.
Judas drank of the 2nd cup of judgment, but never returned to drink the 3rd cup of redemption.
