Easter Series #6

Lesson 1974: Passover Seder, Pt.6

Jesus was buried on the feast day called Unleavened Bread, at sundown following Passover.

Our “kernel of wheat” died and was buried, then He produced many seeds. John 12:23-24

Jesus identified the 3rd wine cup of redemption as His blood. Matt.26:27-29

To appreciate His blessing on this cup, you need to understand the Jewish marriage customs.

The groom had to approach the bride with a contract, which they would both sign. He would pay a price to her father, and they would drink a toast with wine.

Then the groom would tell her, “I go to prepare a place for you in my father’s house.” John 14:2-3

The groom would build a room onto his father’s house for the honeymoon.

The bride waited until the groom returned. She had been bought for a price. 1 Cor.6:20

She kept her oil lamp ready; the groom might come at midnight to surprise her. Matt.25:1-13
