We need you more than ever to fund local solutions to climate change.

February 1, 2017

Dear CEC Community,

For nearly 50 years, CEC has earned a reputation as a bi-partisan bridge builder – joining hands with anyone genuinely willing to work together to solve our most profound environmental problems.

However, like many of you, I’m alarmed by the new federal government’s stance on environmental and climate protection. When it comes to climate solutions in particular, cities and states must lead – and you and I must demand that they do so. Our job now is to counteract weakened national standards and create strong local models of sustainability. We need you for this.

Already we're seeing Californians lean into this challenging time on a new scale, and CEC is seeing a new surge in community engagement. Below are ways you can join this surge. I also invite you to stay tuned as we alert you to opportunities to push for strong environmental leadership – before city councils, school boards, water boards and other citizen bodies.

Sincerely,

Sigrid Wright
CEO/Executive Director

The most important thing we can do now is show up.
