TELECOMMUNICATION CHANGES FOR SUBDIVISIONS

Technological advances and improvements in wireless and satellite telecommunications mean there are now exemptions from the provision of fixed-line services to certain rural developments.

Rural subdivisions are now exempt from providing fixed-line pit and pipe infrastructure where no network utilities or only above ground electricity lines will be installed to building lots; no kerb and channelling/guttering will be constructed; the average length of the street frontages of the building lots within the development is 60 metres or more; and the development is not in a current or announced NBN fixed-line network rollout area.

Contact Council’s Statutory Planning team for further information on the exemption application.

HERITAGE ADVISOR SERVICE

Council has re-established its Heritage Advisory Service with the appointment of a dedicated Heritage Advisor who will be available to assist with heritage related enquiries on a monthly basis. The next available dates for an appointment are February 28 and March 28.
