A Word From Our Pastor

The Greek city of Corinth was restored to its economic and political prominence under the Roman ruler Julius Caesar in the first century.

In this setting, the Apostle Paul founded the Christian church there in the year 50.  The Corinthian church struggled in following God and his son Jesus Christ. They followed “many gods” and “many lords” (1 Cor. 8:5).

The Apostle addresses this problem in the church, including jealousy and quarreling (1 Cor. 3:3). This is a relevant topic today in our church too.

Jesus and the Gospels

Join the Inquisitors as we view and discuss Jesus and the Gospels, presented by Professor Luke Timothy Johnson.

The class continues this Friday, February 10th, from
1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Spiritual Life Center.

In this class you will experience Jesus as you have never experienced him before. Through a myriad of different perspectives, the total Jesus will emerge in a way that you will find most fulfilling. Come and join us.

The Transition Pastor Search Committee

is currently working to identify a Transitional Pastor who will lead our congregation for the next couple of years, while we discern together God’s future for VPC and while we find a new, permanent head pastor.

If you know an individual who would be well suited for this position, we’d like to know! Please contact our committee chairman, Tommy Calhoun by email:  thomas7487@cox.net  or phone: 520-203-8497.
All Church Lenten Study:
Final Words

Sign-up Continues!

During the month of Lent (the 40 days before Easter), we will have an all-church study of Adam Hamilton’s book on the words of Christ from the cross.

We are offering 8 classes per week, which include a video presentation and discussion. Sunday’s sermon will carry on the Lenten theme.

Sign up for a class and/or purchase a book ($7) will continue this Sunday at the Faith Formation Kiosk in Fellowship Hall.
Women's Ministries

The February 21st Women’s Gathering luncheon will feature our annual Patio Sale Style Show. It is a time of great fun and great bargains. Several racks of clothing and accessories will be available for sale after the style show.

You MUST have a ticket in order to attend both the luncheon and the fashion show. It is our best-attended gathering every year, and we really need to make sure we are prepared for everyone who attends.

Tickets will be available after worship this Sunday and February 19th at the Women’s Ministries table in Fellowship Hall. The cost is $10.

The women who plan the style show, select clothing in all sizes, so we need 15 volunteers to model the crème de la crème of the clothing donations.

Please contact Cheryl Stepp (805- 551-3512), or Pat Nau (417-830-2599), if you are willing to help out.

If you want to know more about the Orphanage – you’re in luck!

and at the door.

If you have any questions, contact Reed Olson at
