2016 Project Results
Let’s get right to it - project management received a black eye this past year, as evidenced in the 2016 PMI Pulse of the Profession. Here’s the introductory comment from the PMI President and CEO, Mark Langley:
“As we reviewed this year’s Pulse of the Profession data, we were hoping to see improvement over last year’s results. Instead, we saw declines in many of the success factors we track. Even more concerning, the percentage of projects meeting their goals - which had been flat for the past four years - took a significant dip.”
This is very disconcerting. We spend a lot of time and money on training, and yet we’re seeing these disturbing trends. Resch Group has been beating the drum for the past few years on the merits of training in the areas of strategy, business skills, ROI and benefits realization. It does our heart good to see that PMI is beating the same drum and is shifting their focus in the same direction:
“PMI believes it’s time for organizations to recognize that benefits realization is a central component of project and program management - it is the means to determine ROI as well as to identify the many intangible benefits that projects and programs enable throughout the business.
We know that when project and program benefits are identified as integral parts of the business case, and tracked from project initiation through transfer to the business and beyond, organizations can better ensure they’re delivering business value.
In our continuing emphasis on the fundamental importance of project, program, and portfolio management, we will turn our attention in the year ahead to benefits management as a means to improve.”
Our popular workshops align perfectly with the vision and direction that PMI has set forth for the upcoming year. We’re excited to partner with you in 2017 in bringing these strategic and business-focused workshops to your organization or PMI chapter.

Cheers to Strategic, Business-Focused Training that delivers Results!
