On the Road: Gulf Coast & East Texas

It's symposium season at Literacy Texas, and we want to see you this spring. Our first event in Edinburg doubled in attendance from last year, and our DFW symposium is already full, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out! Join us in Pearland on March 11, or Longview on March 25 for a full day of training, networking and more. A full schedule of sessions will be available online later this month, but for now, be sure to pre-register--we think these events will fill up. Both symposiums are completely free and lunch will be provided, so don't hesitate. Reserve your spot!

Proclaim Your Love for Literacy

Our idea of the perfect Valentine's Day: champagne, chocolates, and a day of expressing passion for adult education. Join literacy teachers and adult learners from all over the state for our first-ever Advocacy Day at the Capitol on 2/14! We're looking for people that are willing to share their stories with representatives, talk about how adult education is life-changing, and show them why it should be a legislative priority. Learn more and RSVP.

Every Texan Deserves to Read

Education has been a hot topic in the U.S. these last few weeks, but one thing is certain: Literacy is integral to the success of Texas families, communities, and economies, and it's vital that to do our part to preserve it.

Your tax-deductible donation to Literacy Texas is a great way to support the spread of adult literacy. Of the 3.5 million Texans eligible for adult education services in 2013, federal funds served less than 3%. Your recurring donation of just $10/month can help make a difference in an entire community by equipping volunteers with the knowledge and resources they need to help students find success. Donate today to help us reach under-served regions of Texas and bridge the gap of illiteracy.

We are currently accepting proposals for our 2017 Conference. Share your insight and expertise on adult education, high school equivalency testing, workforce development, and more. For details and a link to submit, visit our website.

The Literacy Texas 2017 Conference will take place at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos, July 31 - August 2. Details on hotels, exhibiting, keynote speakers, and more are available here.
