Cookies and Caroling Outreach

For months, the children at Agua Viva looked forward to decorating cookies with Misi, one of our volunteers. Before Christmas, they decorated hundreds of beautiful cookies, and then went door to door in the community singing carols, praying for families, and giving out cookies. It was a fun time for the children to experience the joy of giving and sharing the love of Christ.

Luisa's Graduation

We couldn’t be more proud of Luisa, who recently graduated at the top of her high school class with a certification in tourism. She is a smart and dedicated young woman with big dreams for the future. Luisa passed her college entrance exams with flying colors and is moving to the city to study psychology and continue her studies in English as well. Please pray for her as she starts this new chapter in her life!

Celebrating Christmas

In typical Guatemalan fashion, we celebrated Christmas with a special tamale dinner and worship service reminding us of the one true reason for Christmas. The night’s activities included a movie, games, fireworks, and of course, presents. It was a beautiful time of fellowship with staff, staff families, and all the children.

Little Boy, Big Heart

Nery came to Agua Viva when he was just three years old. Over the past seven years he has grown in many positive ways. Before Nery came to Agua Viva, he was too little to play soccer with his siblings, but now one of his favorite activities is a vigorous game of soccer with his “brothers” from Casa David.

Nery loves spending time with the other boys and always shares what he has with others. One day at school he shared his snack with a little boy who was too poor to bring his own. He still remembers how that little boy smiled at him as a result of that small kindness. Nery has a big heart to serve and help others. One day he would like to join the army because he wants to protect people. Please pray for Nery.

Sponsorship Opportunities

It’s a new year and a great opportunity to support the children at Agua Viva through the Child Sponsorship Program.

Child sponsors donate $35 a month towards the care of their sponsored child and receive an annual photo and history sheet. The child writes to his or her sponsor at least twice a year and sponsors are encouraged to write back and get involved with the children as much or little as they wish. In many ways, our sponsors represent a personal connection and stability that many of these children have missed growing up. Thanks for your support.

“Most Exciting Adventure Ever"

A group of our older children who had nowhere to go for the holidays were excited to go on a special trip with our director, Evy, to explore some of the history, culture, and beauty of Guatemala.

The group visited several cities and saw waterfalls and a nature reserve where the national bird, the quetzal, lives. According to one of the girls on the trip, “It was the most exciting adventure ever!” We love seeing the children take an interest in their culture and share their stories with the other children at Agua Viva.
