May trip to La Gonave
The next meeting for the May 2017 trip to Haiti is scheduled for February 4 at 10:00 am at the District Office (6737 Cetronia Road, Allentown). Another group is also meeting at the District Office that day so we will meet in the conference room at the end of the hall. As discussed at our first meeting, the dates for the trip have been adjusted to May 20 - 30. Responses from our missionaries on the field indicate that we'll most likely be on La Gonave attacking the never ending to do list (especially termite damage control).
Possible rebuild trip in the fall
As a result of Hurricane Matthew there are seven churches that need to be replaced. The replacement churches will be of the pole barn structure similar to those erected following the earthquake in 2010. Because the devastation resulting from Hurricane Matthew was so severe, there is little infrastructure in the area where the churches will be built. Accommodations are spartan and amenities are non-existent. A team will consist of 6-8 men and will be in country for 2 weeks. Current cost estimate is $1300 per person plus $7500 for project funding. The time frame for the trip is September - November with exact dates determined by those interested in participating.
If you have any interest in participating in a rebuild trip this fall, please attend the meeting on February 4. At the very least please let me know of your interest.
