Feb 12 March March For An Inclusive America,
Feb 14 Post Women's march Huddle & Action meeting.

The “Alliance for an Inclusive America,” will hold it s first action, a
March For An Inclusive America “to express solidarity with Muslims at a time when their rights are being questioned" on Sunday, February 12th

Assemble in the park at 2pm, near NHK Hall at the edge of Yoyogi Park. (see poster and facebook page)

Feb 14 Post Women's march Huddle & Action meeting.
In Feb, people around the world and begin to transform the energy we saw at the marches and events in Jan and Feb into local and national action. Tokyo march coordinators also are looking towards the development of a broader action oriented coalition involving people from diverse backgrounds and many types of organization.

I would like to ask that you all share widely with your networks - these events are not limited to persons who have taken part in other events or to US citizens. The attached poster has basic information on the march and the links below have complete event details.

Training programs

Spring community service workshop series

Fee: 5000yen per session or 20,000 yen for all 5
Registration deadline: March 5
Confirmation will be sent on March 6 to all who have signed up.

March 11 morning session – Intro to the series, nonprofits in Japan, registering an org in Japan
  • introduces how the session are connected
  • a basic over view of the sector and the development of nonprofits in Japan.
  • how to register a new org in Japan and org structure.
March 18 - afternoon – Fundraising
  • - over new of key fundraising sources and basic resource mobilization strategy
  • - grants, ind donations, corporate sponsorship, govt grants online and events
  • - how these all fit into org strategy
March 25 - afternoon – Grant writing basics
  • - research for grants
  • - the basic themes included in almost all grant applications
  • - difference between different types of grant applications and reports
  • - tips and hints for successful applications
  • - materials in E and J
April 1 - morning - Project Management
  • overview of the PM cycle
  • key elements of assessments - useful for overseas fundraising
  • project design matrix will only be introduced as there is not enough time to review in detail
April 8- afternoon - Retaining Volunteers
  • over view of vol mgt
  • review of general problems orgs face
  • training and orientation of vols
  • "valuing" volunteers for increased retention
 
 
Venue: Workshops will take place in a community center in central Tokyo. Details on contents, payment and venue access info will be sent to all interested.
 
Based on the outcomes of the first two series, I will prepare others in summer as well.
