Tell Michigan State Representatives Hornberger, Kelly, and Runestad that you oppose the “Sanctuary City Prohibition Act.”

Michigan State Rep. Pamela Hornberger (District 32) plans to introduce the “Sanctuary City Prohibition Act” which will prohibit local municipalities from passing “welcoming cities” policies, allow police to legally profile those they believe to be in the country “illegally”, and sanction cities that do not comply by eliminating revenue sharing. This bill has been co sponsored by Rep. Kelly and Rep. Runestad.

As Christians, we believe all people have inherent God-given dignity and are called to advocate for the vulnerable.The Sanctuary City Prohibition Act wrongfully suggests that the immigrants we know and love are a threat and burden to our communities. Scripture teaches that God calls communities to welcome the stranger and through such hospitality comes many blessings. As a faith community, we have experienced the blessings that immigrants, regardless of their status, bring to our communities, churches, and personal lives.
