New Mental Health and Wellness Centre for Moray


Mental health charity Penumbra has been commissioned to provide a new mental health and wellness centre in Elgin. The service will be delivered through an innovative partnership with Community Renewal and will act as the single access point for a range of adult services designed to promote positive mental health and support people to recover from mental ill health.

From Johnny Cash to Amy Winehouse, alcoholism and the spiral down into addiction is a recurring theme amongst musicians. But one person from Blackburn, West Lothian, hopes the music he wrote as part of his recovery will now help the service which turned his life around.
 

Penumbra team up with IPA Scotland to tackle poor body confidence


Scotland’s most creative students are being sought to help tackle one of the biggest issues for young people today – poor body confidence. Penumbra has teamed up with IPA Scotland and Skills Development Scotland to promote the 2017 Student Advertising Awards, a competition for students looking to kickstart their career in advertising.
 

Chief Exec speaks at Mental Health Europe conference


Penumbra Chief Executive and president of Mental Health Europe, Nigel Henderson, traveled to Dublin to speak at an event on Capacity Building. 200 people including the Irish Minister for Health attended the event, which also celebrated Mental Health Ireland’s 50 Year Anniversary.
 

J K Rowling and Stephen Fry donate signed books to raise money for Penumbra service


Novelist Robert Galbraith (AKA J K Rowling) and comedian, actor and writer Stephen Fry have both donated signed copies of their latest books to raise funds for the Edinburgh Crisis Centre.
 

Miles Briggs MSP visits Edinburgh Crisis Centre


Lothian regional list MSP Miles Briggs has visited the Edinburgh Crisis Centre, a 24/7 mental health crisis service run by mental health charity Penumbra and funded jointly by NHS Lothian and the City of Edinburgh Council.
 

Penumbra talk mental health with Hibs development squad


Penumbra visited Scottish Cup winners Hibernian FC recently to raise awareness of mental health issues and to encourage players and staff to seek help if they need to.
