The Free Market: Climate Change Friend or Foe

Monday, February 27 at 7 p.m. at the Main Library

Americans have a love-hate relationship with the free market.  We love it because it provides desirable goods at low cost, even as we blame it for giving rise to greenhouse gas pollution that drives climate change.

Gary Rucinski, Massachusetts State Coordinator for the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, explores what free markets can and cannot do to address climate change.  He also discusses what government can do to entice investors, entrepreneurs, and inventors to provide the lowest cost clean energy possible.

Questions are encouraged in this interactive session that challenges assumptions about free markets, energy prices, and what we can do about climate change today.
