Please participate - East Gippsland children's wellbeing survey
The purpose of this survey is to identify training that has previously been undertaken and to identify what the future training needs are in the following areas; Service Access, Children's Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Family Violence and Children with Additional Needs.

AusPlay shows children need to get more active
Fifty four per cent of children aged under 14 years are active at least once a week in organised sport or physical activity after school hours. The biggest barriers for participating in sport for children aged under eight are parents' perception that they are too young to start playing. 

Obesity and healthy eating in Australia evidence summary - VicHealth
This evidence summary outlines current trends in obesity and healthy eating in Australia and Victoria. It also gives an overview of the impacts of an unhealthy diet, as well as barriers and enablers to changing the eating patterns of a population. It has been informed by recent research and policy documents.

Violence Against Women in Australia: An overview of research and approaches to primary prevention - VicHealth
A synopsis of the latest published research examining violence against women in Australia and its prevention. It also includes responses to violence against women and primary prevention actions.

Funding available - women's health community education
The Eirene Lucas Foundation are offering Victorian communities the opportunity to invite a Jean Hailes speaker to present on women's health at an event they are organising in their local area.

Temporary vacancy - Senior Project Officer, Population Health and Planning Unit, Department of Health and Human Services, South Division
A temporary vacancy exists until 30 June 2017, based in the DHHS Traralgon office. Applications close on Tuesday 7 February 2017.

Position vacant: Central West Gippsland PCP 
Our fellow Gippsland PCP in Central West Gippsland are currently seeking an Integrated Chronic Disease Management Coordinator to work from their Moe office. 

Gender equality and health - training needs analysis
VicHealth is currently undertaking a training needs analysis to determine gaps and opportunities regarding workforce development. The 5-10 minute survey (link above) will close shortly. 

Tender call for submissions: Family Violence Therapeutic Interventions Demonstration Projects 
Two submissions - therapeutic interventions for victim survivors of family violence and Aboriginal specific interventions for Aboriginal families impacted by family violence. 

Healthy Eating Advisory Service - Professional development 
A new suite of professional development opportunities is now available for schools, day care and hospitality providers. Please circulate this free training to your networks as we would love to have the HEAS visit East Gippsland!

Diabetes eye health resources for Aboriginal people
The 'Check Today, See Tomorrow' resource kit has been developed to increase awareness about diabetes eye care and the need for people with diabetes to have a yearly eye check to help prevent vision loss and blindness.

National Framework for Health Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Families 
This framework will help children to get a better start in life. The focus of the framework is on bringing a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing that draws on the strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.

LiveLighter for Families
This suite of online resources helps parents save money and time with ideas for easy and healthy family meals and school lunches, including the $2.50 school lunch box.
