Editorial..............................................................Annie Scott

I hope everyone has been having a wonderful start to their New Year!

The YWCA Women's Programs, funded by the Ontario Women's Directorate, have been definitely booming with our Women in Business program starting in Bracebridge, our Women's Winter Wellness Series starting in Huntsville, and our Women's Gathering Circle starting in Gravenhurst. We have been so happy to have tons of interest in all of our programs and are so excited to be working with women all across Muskoka.

Our Drop-In Program in Bracebridge has been bustling and I have been so lucky to meet so many wonderful, talented women. I have helped with everything from how to organize someone's To Do list to how to optimize the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) of a website, figuring out how to use a specific software to preparing for submitting taxes...lots of exciting and wonderful challenges!

We have wonderful news!!

We are incredibly excited to be the lucky recipient of an Ontario Trillium Foundation Seed Grant for a New YWCA Gathering Space. The Gathering Space will be a Women's Resource and Business Centre located within our Bracebridge office at 440 Ecclestone Drive. Starting in March, we will be offering a list of programming and supports that will help women obtain and sustain economic stability through computer classes, life skills workshops, networking, craft workshops, and one on one supports for both life and business issues. We will send out an invite to our grand opening in the upcoming weeks.

We are also very excited to announce our Enterprising Women's Conference. On March 21st, 2017 we will be holding an all day conference at the Algonquin Theatre featuring a fabulous Keynote Speaker and awesome breakout panels. This will be a wonderful day of connection and learning for women in Muskoka. More on that coming early next week!!!

This momentum is so wonderful and we can't wait to connect with all of you in the near future! Please send me an email: ascott@ywcamuskoka if you would like to learn more about our Women's Program offerings.

Warmly, Annie

Circles® Huntsville

Circles Huntsville launched this month!  Circles is an initiative centred on intentional relationships with volunteers from the local community to support individuals and families (Circle Leaders) out of poverty. It is being hosted in donated space by the Salvation Army Community Church in Huntsville. Approximately 8 Circle Leaders and over 20 Allies are meeting three times a month. Each meeting begins with a family style meal. The task of meal preparation is being shared by three volunteer food teams; from Muskoka Community Church, All Saints Anglican Church and the Muskoka North Good Food Co-op. Food has been donated by 12 various local businesses. The food has been wonderful and the participants have appreciated an opportunity to take home leftovers.

Following the
meal the adults have a circle gathering supporting families and individuals and growing in their relationships together with the aim of helping Circle Leaders progress forward with their future stories and goals. The children enjoy a program which includes games, crafts and the discussion of similar topics.

YWCA Muskoka would like to thank the followingorganisations for their contributions to Circles which is funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation

YWCA CANADA
Application for burseries has been extended!  YWCA Canada will accept applications until February 10th. Successful applicants will be notified by February 14th.   We are particularly trying to connect with young women who may not always have this kind of opportunity. This is a great opportunity for young mothers (as we will have  childcare onsite)  and all other young women!
