Bronx NYCHA Full Time Assistant
Housing Court Answers is an independent nonprofit organization that assists unrepresented people at information tables in the city’s five housing courts. We are hiring a full time Bronx/NYCHA Assistant. The Assistant will work mostly in the Bronx at 851 Grand Concourse, 1118 Grand Concourse in the Bronx and 250 Broadway in Manhattan. The Assistant will also work on the hotline and in other boroughs as assigned. The Assistant will also help the Bronx Coordinator and the NYCHA Coordinator preparing materials and with task force meetings and advocacy campaigns. The work hours are 9-5, Monday to Friday.
NYCHA Responsibilities
- Staff a NYCHA information station in the NYCHA part at 851 Grand Concourse
- Work with the NYCHA Coordinator to develop materials and handouts for tenants
- Support the NYCHA Coordinator on advocacy campaigns
- Plan and present community outreach, trainings and workshops
- Work with community groups and elected officials staff
- Collect and report program statistics
Bronx Table Responsibilities
- Assist litigants at the Bronx table
- Assist Bronx Borough Coordinator with task force responsibilities
- Track and report statistical data
- Update referrals
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is required for this position.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Commitment to social justice
- Ability to work with the public in a stressful and chaotic setting
- Knowledge of housing, tenants’ rights, and NYCHA rules and procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively
