Windup
I thought about titling this episode "Nearing the End." The multiple ways it could be interpreted amused me. However, I don't want to give the wrong impression, and while I do have mixed emotions about my time here coming to a conclusion, I am truly delighted with all I've accomplished during the residency. Thanks to all of you for helping to make it possible!
Speaking of all of you... it is time to put your names in a hat (one entry for every $25 that you contributed) and draw for an original painting! I had originally said a 24x24, but have decided to let the winner decide between any of the painting I created during the residency. They range from 24x24" to 36x36". Additionally, I am going to draw two more names and let each choose from my 9x9" works on paper... some of which are shown, below. I will do the drawing tonight and let you know the results tomorrow. The suspense!
The winners will need to be a bit patient with me. I just found out that my Oregon studio was damaged in recent storms, and I will be out of it for a couple of months while it's gutted and repaired. I am in the process of looking for a temporary space, but not sure when that will happen--hopefully next week! Also, some of the paint on the oils is still tacky, and I want to wait until I get these all safe and sound back to Oregon before I let you "pick." I'm thinking it will be mid-February.
I am not sure yet how I'm going to display the oil paintings. I had originally intended to stretch them on bars, as per usual, but I kind of like the white border, and am looking into mounting them on cradled boards. I won't know for sure until I get back home and try a couple different things.
Warmest regards,
Rachel
