Woodland Care Days Planned for Faulkes Heritage Woods
The City of Marion and Trees Forever are pleased to host a series of Woodland Care Days at Faulkes Heritage Woods. Organizers are seeking volunteers interested in working, learning and spending time with nature and helping to manage invasive plant species. Plan to attend any or all of the following days:

Wed., Feb. 22 • 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Wed., Mar. 22 • 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Faulkes Heritage Woods, 30th Street & Tama Street

Winter Weather Reminders
Snowmobiles and ATVs:
Please remember, snowmobiles and ATV's are prohibited from all City parks and trails.

Snow and Ice Removal:
It is the responsibility of the property owner to maintain sidewalks along the property, including any corners leading into the street. Sidewalks should be cleared within 12 hours after the snow or ice has been deposited on the sidewalk.
If the snow/ice is not removed within this window, the City will clear the sidewalk. The resulting charges will be 85 cents per square foot, plus a $25 administrative fee. If you have any questions, please contact the Parks Department at (319) 447-3580.
Peg Pierce Marion Girls Softball Girls Grades 3rd–9th (Fall 2017/18)
Recreational softball league with an emphasis on developing skills and learning basic fundamentals of softball. Teams are divided into divisions based on their grade (2nd/3rd, 4th/5th, 6th-8th). Games played at Peg Pierce Softball Complex. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

Marion Boys Baseball Children Ages 8—18* (by April 1, 2017)
*8 year olds may choose between the PeeWee League (coach-pitch) and the Marion Boys Baseball’s Pony League (player pitch).
Games played at Starry Park baseball complex or Lowe Park baseball complex. Practices will begin mid-April with games beginning May 13. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

Looking for something to keep the little ones active for the afternoon on a no school day? Look no further than this new afternoon camp. Children will participate in variety of fun games and activities. Please dress your child accordingly as we plan to be outside for a portion of the afternoon. Limited number of spots available.
Fee: $25.00 per child

Kid Crafters Art Class
Children Ages 3–5

Come join and socialize with other kids your age as we create different seasonal and holiday crafts and art projects each session. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child. This program is supported by the Marion Arts Council.  Limit 15 participants.

This 4-week program introduces players to the basics of organized soccer in a fun, non-competitive environment.

Lil' Leprechaun's Day Camp
Children Grades K–5th

It’s Spring Break! Spend the afternoon at Lowe Park with our recreation staff as they lead the kids through games, crafts, snacks, and more. We may even go searching for that leprechaun and his pot of gold! Please dress accordingly for the weather as we may be outside for a portion of the afternoon. Limited number of spots available.
Fee: $25.00 per child

EGGStraordinary Egg Hunt
Children Ages 3–8

This event is always a hit with the kids and parents! Join other fellow egg hunters for a night your child won’t soon forget. Children will first create their own Easter craft(s), then they’re off in search of the mysterious glowing eggs.  Who knows, there may even be an Easter Bunny sighting. Limited number of spots available.

Indoor Bags Camp

NEW! Putt-Putt Golf Camp
Children Ages 6–10

An introduction to putting using the S.N.A.G. (Starting New At Golf) golf system. Children will learn proper stance and grip as well as proper stroke and pace.. Limited number of spots available.

Adult Programs
Adult Team Trivia Night
Adults Ages 18+

Bring your thinking caps and useless trivial knowledge to compete against other teams of adults in fun and challenging rounds of trivia. Categories will include, but are not limited to: pop culture, movies, music, sports, history, brand recognition and more. Participants are welcome to bring food and drinks to share with their team. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. Minimum of 6 teams; Maximum of 12 teams.
Fee: $80.00 per team (Max: 8 people per team)

Family Programs
Snowman Selfies
Open to All Ages

It’s Iowa, it’s going to snow! Get out and enjoy the great outdoors when the white stuff starts to fly this winter. Simply get out and build yourself a snowman anytime there is snow on the ground. Snap a selfie with your snowman and send it to tireland@cityofmarion.org. Please include your contact information and name for your cool snowman. Pictures will be posted to Marion Parks and Recreation’s Facebook page and the "Snowman Selfie" with the most “Likes” at the end of the  program will receive a prize from the department. Creativity will help,  so make your snowman standout.
Fee: FREE
Snowman Selfie photos will be accepted Jan. 1-Feb. 28, 2017.

B-I-N-G-O Nights at Lowe Park
Join us at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center for nights of fun, socializing, and a chance to win some cash! Games of BINGO will be played for $0.25 per card, per game. Cash prizes are paid to the winner of each game. There will also be a few bonus games with increased payouts. The night will conclude with a winner-take-all game of blackout. Participants are welcome to bring food and drinks to enjoy while they play. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Seats and cards are limited, so get there early to guarantee yourself a spot at a table. Open to all ages. 
Fee: FREE, seats and cards are first come, first serve.

Community Blood Drive at Lowe Park
Tuesday, February 21
12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Each month, Lowe Park hosts a Marion community blood drive in the Arts & Environment Center's Oaks Room. The next opportunity to give at this location will be from 9 a.m.- noon on Tuesday, March 28. To donate, please contact the Blood Center at (800) 747-5401 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 1260 to locate the drive.
Senior Activities at Lowe Park 
The Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center is home to FREE senior activities throughout the week. These programs are provided and coordinated as part of the Witwer Healthy Aging Program by Aging Services.

The programs and activities are geared towards adults ages 55 and up. For more information on these programs or other sites, please contact JoEllen Haddad or Lauri Mitchell at Aging Services at 398-3644. You can also contact the Parks and Recreation office at Lowe Park at 447-3590.

Please note: If Linn-Mar Schools are canceled due to inclement weather, all senior activities scheduled are also canceled at Lowe Park.

Valentine Luncheon

Serving: Turkey Club Sandwich on Wheat Bread, Green Bean Casserole, Fruit and a  Valentine Cookie
