Happy February, folks. It's the month of Valentines, groundhogs, Black History, and the Day the Music Died. Buddy Holly coulda been a contender. Sad.

• 91.3 percent of Americans failed to keep their New Year's resolutions, according to the nonexistent Society for Entirely False Statistics.
• The nation commemorated the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a Day of Service.

• Feb. 8, 16, 24 -- Gain a better understanding of hunger via This Is Hunger, a powerful exhibit.
• Feb. 9 -- Satisfy your sweet tooth at Georgetown Law Equal Justice Foundation's Candyland Auction.
• Feb. 11, 16, 19 -- Hail to the V, and to fighting violence against women. This three-part fundraiser benefits Calvary Women's Services and My Sister's Place DC
