We'd like to wish all of our funders, donors, trustees, staff, volunteers and friends a very happy new year and thank you for your continued support and dedication. We've had an incredible 2016, with our team and office ever expanding through additional funding and new campaigns, and hope to bring last year's success into the new year. Don't forget to keep updated with all our latest news by following us on social media and checking out our website...

Upcoming CSE Campaign (13th - 18th March)
Both Basis Yorkshire’s Young People Project and Time 2 Project are in the midst of preparation for our week of Campaigning (Week 13th - 18th March) for the National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day (18/3). We are being assisted by the Lionesses group, who previously helped us with the Breaking Through Project, so we really value their time and commitment to making the campaign an exciting interactive experience. Keep your eyes peeled for updates in the coming weeks!

Co-production

Basis now have an Experts Advisory Board which, at present, consists of four current sex workers and one former sex worker. The panel will be influencing the Safer Leeds Strategic Plan as well as working closely with the Co-production worker to improve services offered to sex workers.
If you know anyone who would be interested in getting involved, the Experts Advisory Board next meets on Monday 27th February at 1.30pm at the Basis office. Please contact Marie Park (Co-production worker) on 07376143695 or marie.park@basisyorkshire.org.uk.

We're pleased to announce that Basis Training in partnership with the BLAST Project was awarded a 4 yr contract to deliver CSE Training for Leeds, Wakefield and Kirklees Children's Services.  We look forward to working with practitioners from across Yorkshire to improve their capacity to  recognise and support young people at risk of or experiencing CSE.

Kontra

We'r very lucky to have a group of talented DJ’s take over Musiquariam on the 10th February to raise money for Basis Yorkshire. All are welcome to enjoy deep house, disco and everything in between, to dance the night away for a good cause! Tickets are £3/£4 and all proceeds go to Basis Yorkshire. Thank you to Kontra and friends!

Welcome Megan!

We’re delighted to welcome Megan Jones to our team, who is here on a 70 day placement within a social work degree. She has a huge amount of experience with young people and adults, working at Framework for four years prior, supporting housing for young people with complex needs. She will be working closely with Taylor to help support service users.

A Lush Charity Pot Party

The team at LUSH in Leeds city centre never fail to amaze us with their wonderful support. After a generous product donation last year, they chose to donate all the proceeds of one weekend’s sale of their ‘charity pot’ to our projects. Staff and volunteers from Basis encouraged Saturday’s shoppers to donate by advocating in-store throughout the day, all whilst enjoying the incredible smells of LUSH’s multitude of products! We are so grateful, and excited to collaborate in the future.

Peer Support Group

With the direction from our volunteer Rosemary Francis, and the support of Jo, our Historic CSE Support Worker, the Peer Support Group for women has been taking place weekly since the beginning of January. There has been positive feedback from those who have attended so far and we will be seeking additional funding for to allow more members to take part in group activities. It has already engaged regular members and we are really excited to see how it grows as it continues.
