Photographer Returns February 8

Photographer Andrew Weber will return to UD on Wednesday, February 8 for a full day photo shoot.  If you have not yet had your portrait taken, please plan to stop by Room 505 between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. to have yours taken. This only takes about five minutes. Also, we will be contacting all the departments to schedule time in your labs to take photos of students and faculty in action. Please be thinking about where and what we can shoot.

How Do I Get my Own Website to Share Research?

In the past, UDit provided server space for faculty websites on the domain names listed below and some of those sites still exist. However, things change, security issues arise and UDit had decided to remove sites from the following servers:
  • academic.udayton.edu
  • homepages.udayton.edu
  • campus.udayton.edu
Going forward, faculty can request a user-friendly, University of Dayton Google Site for their personal web pages. For more information and to request a site, just click on this UDit link:

Are you unsure about Google Sites? Click a link below to check out some of our faculty members who are already online with Google:

https://sites.google.com/a/udayton.edu/vasari1/
https://sites.google.com/a/udayton.edu/rhardie1/
https://sites.google.com/a/udayton.edu/evasquez1/

Google sites are available to faculty and groups only. If you have questions, feel free to consult with our UDit colleagues in Room 211 or call Karen Updyke.

Photonics Faculty Member Becomes Fellow

A prominent materials research engineer from the Air Force Research Laboratory was confirmed as one of 96 Fellows of The Optical Society at the organization’s annual meeting in October. Dr. Shekhar Guha, a materials research engineer in the Photonic Materials Branch, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, AFRL, and UD faculty member, will be recognized at a formal ceremony in San Jose, California, in May 2017. Guha was nominated by Partha Banjaree based on his leadership, service and research in the optics academic and scientific communities. He has co-authored over 140 journal and proceeding articles, led numerous conference presentations, authored several books and has several patents.
