Native Plant Education

www.wildones.org

Wild Ones, a nonprofit environmental education and advocacy organization, is accepting applications from projects that aim to enhance and develop an appreciation for nature among high school students using native plants. Through the Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Fund, grants of up to $500 will be awarded for projects that emphasize the involvement of students and volunteers in all phases of development. Examples include the establishment of a native plant community in an educational setting such as an outdoor classroom, developing and maintaining an interpretive trail landscaped with native plant communities, and/or developing a wetland area so as to study the effect of native vegetation on water-quality improvement.

STEM (Science, Technology Engineering & Mathematics) Education

The Voya Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Voya Financial, works to ensure that youth are equipped with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) expertise and financial knowledge necessary to compete in the twenty-first century workforce and make smart financial decisions that lead to a secure retirement. To that end, Voya is accepting applications from organizations that provide innovative and experiential K-8 STEM learning opportunities that promote an early interest in STEM career fields and improve teachers' capabilities in STEM; or that provide financial education curriculum to grade 9-12 students focused on navigating major financial milestones such as student debt, credit, home ownership, financial products and services/financial capability, and family needs.

Grassroots Environmental Campaigns

www.patagonia.com

Outdoor clothing and gear company Patagonia provides grants to nonprofit organizations engaged in environmental work. The company's environmental grant program supports small, grassroots activist organizations that have provocative direct-action agendas and are working on multi-pronged campaigns to preserve and protect the environment. Grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded in support of projects that are action-oriented, build public involvement and support, are focused on root causes, and demonstrate a commitment to long-term change.

Conservation

www.conservationalliance.com

The Conservation Alliance is a group of outdoor businesses that seeks to protect threatened wild places in North America for their habitat and recreational values. As a group of outdoor industry companies, the alliance recognizes its responsibility to help protect the waterways and wildlands on which its customers recreate and wildlife thrives. Grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded for projects that seek to secure permanent and quantifiable protection of a specific waterway or wildland. Priority will be given to landscape-scale projects that have a clear benefit for habitat. In addition, campaigns should engage grassroots citizen action in support of the effort and have a clear recreational benefit.

The Elaine Chapin Fund is accepting applications to the 2017 Elaine Chapin Scholarship Fund.  The program supports the postsecondary education of students affected by multiple sclerosis, either directly or as a family member. In 2017, the fund will award $1,000 scholarships to deserving students. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of financial need, academic standing, and the degree to which multiple sclerosis has affected their lives.
