5 Year Anniversary

January 25th we were pleased to celebrate Puerta de Esperanza´s 5th anniversary!  Our celebration focused on God´s faithfulness over the last 5 years to grow this ministry and call many to Himself.  We read from Psalm 68:6 "The Lord puts the lonely in families".  We have seen Him do this with our PDE family - He has created a family out of lonely, broken people and we are so thankful.  But He has also added to His family as we see girls come through the home and come to know Him as their Lord and Savior.  It was beautiful to hear four of the present and former girls share a little bit about their story and what being part of this ministry has meant to them.
Some days are really hard in a home with 4 teenage girls and their children.  It has been especially difficult right now as they are on vacation from school and don't have tons to do at home during the day.  We have had some changes as one of our house moms broke her arm and hasn't been able to come back to work yet.  So the girls have had to be flexible, and they do so much better with stability!  It makes me really thankful for moments like the one represented in this picture.  Food, laughter, community, friends... the ability to relax and enjoy another's company.
School starts next week!  School updates for this year...
Kenia - taking cooking classes for 4 months and will be looking for restaurant jobs starting in June!  Also she is in 7th grade this year taking classes at night.
Paola - starting nursing school this year after almost 6 months of volunteering with Dr. Roger at the clinic
Belkis - starting beauty school this year which is a 2 year commitment.  Also taking 7th grade classes at night with Kenia.
Cindy - going to public high school for 8th grade
Osman - pre-K 4 at a nearby public kingergarten
We were so thankful to have Alma with us for the weekend for the celebration.  She showed a real servant's heart and love for the girls during her time with us.  As to be expected, the girls are apprehensive about the upcoming transition, so please be in prayer for them.  Pray also for Alma and family as they say goodbye to their current church family this weekend and plan to move to La Ceiba soon to start work with us the first of March!
Pray for Cristina's arm to heal quickly!  Also, pray for the provision of a third on-call house mom who can work in case of emergencies like this one or cover when people go on vacation.  We desperately need this person, but don't want to hire just anyone, so we are waiting on God to bring the right person along.
Financial Needs
Praise the Lord for his provision in the month of December!  You were generous in your end of the year donations and we are so grateful!  There are still financial needs, of course, but God has reminded us of HIS faithfulness!
1. Pray!  Pray for the provision of our financial needs.
2. Spread the Word!  Tell others about the ministry in hopes that they too may want to partner with us.
3. Give!  We currently need one-time gifts for some big end of the year costs in December.  We also continue to need monthly partners.  For more details, contact Shannon at ssinnes@gmail.com.  To give go to  https://www.mtw.org/projects/  and use the project number 92413 to find us!
Prayer Requests
1. For the Ordoñez family to get their visas before mid-April
2. For this year of transition as Alma comes to start working with us
3. For the girls as they each start school
4. Specifically for Cindy as she is in Public high school for the first time - to make good friend choices and be diligent in her studies
5. For Osman who will be going to school for the first time
6. For Eliana who is behind in reaching milestones.  Pray for wisdom for the doctors who are treating her.  Pray specifically that she would start walking!
7. For continued spiritual growth for all of us
