I flew into the Los Angeles airport with my father, and we were waiting for my uncle to arrive to pick us up. I sat on a deep, blue, hard chair for a long time and then my uncle finally came. He said, "Hola" to me and I said "Hola" too and hugged him.

The Hillsboro Story reminded me of Charles and that little town, and the impossible tangle of those times, which we've only picked at around the edges ever since.
