Jan. 2017 Meeting Report
GWC's meeting in Jan. was a special board brainstorming session to set priorities for this year. Restoring the Creek by working with SR to remove the concrete Ditch received top votes. If you would like to help this endeavor, please join us in Feb. as we develop strategies for this and other projects.

Next Meeting Feb. 1!
Yes, it's that soon! First Wednesday of Feb. is the First. Please come and help us work this year to "Ditch the Ditch"--or help us come up with a better name for the Greenbelt Park Gallinas Creek Restoration!

Our Special Guest will be Jon Liang, Marin County's Zone Engineer for Flood Zone 7. How WAS the storm flooding in Marin County???? Come find out.

Phase 2 for Floating Islands
We applied for and received a year's extension on the extremely successful Floating Islands in the Civic Center Lagoon. We are about to embark on Phase 2--getting a larger island installed to really help clean the water. We received a $2500 grant from the Rose Foundation and are working with Floating Islands West and other partners to create this reality. We welcome and need your support and participation. The Rose Foundation has supported us since our inception; we could not have done so much without them. Thank you Rose Foundation!

Watershed HIkes
As always, GWC will be offering tours of the headwaters, bay, and city portion of Gallinas Creek in the upcoming months. Local Guides will be on hand to answer questions and provoke a new way of thinking about our creeks and waterways. Dates will be posted on the website as we confirm them.

Monthly Meetings
The GWC Board meets on the first Wednesday of the month in the Community Room of the Northgate MallEnter by the mall Food Court; turn R immediately; follow corridor to elevator; go to 2nd floor.  Meetings are from 7 - 9 pm and everyone is welcome.  We discuss matters of interest concerning our local creek and bay area watersheds. The next meeting is Feb. 1, 2017.

See You in the Watershed!

Sept. 2016 Creek Clean up in Gallinas Goddess canoe.
It was sunny that day and we saw bat rays in the creek!

King TIde Kayak Creek Clean Up
The rains have brought water to our very dry watershed, but have also flushed some serious trash into the marsh. If you have a kayak or canoe, please join us for a watery creek clean up on Wed. Feb. 8 at 10 am prompt! Please RSVP with Alex Kahl for location. We have a limited number of seats for folks without their own boats on a first come, first served basis. Please check with Alex.
