Meetings are currently held in the basement of St. Paul UCC at 225 E Gates St, Columbus, OH 43206. All interested parties, members or not, are welcome and encouraged to attend.

As such, St. Paul UCC will be unavailable to host the Block Watch and Monthly MVA Meeting on that date and we will moving to the MVA Info. Center (1330 S. Fourth Street, Columbus, OH 43206). The date of the meetings will remain Wednesday, March 1st, only the location will change.

MVA Membership Renewal Deadline

Have you renewed your MVA membership for 2017? If you were a member in 2016, you must renew by the last day in February (Tuesday, February 28th) in order to retain voting privileges. Any registrations after that date will reset the 21 day waiting period for voting privileges and your membership will be considered “new” rather than a renewal. If you’re unsure about your current membership status, e-mail membership@merionvillage.org with your name and address and we’ll be happy to check our records for you. Click Here to renew your membership or signup as a new member through our secure webform.

COTA Transit System Redesign

The MVA will host a special meeting with a representative from COTA who will discuss the upcoming transit system redesign. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 7th beginning at 6:30 PM at St. Paul UCC (225 E Gates St, Columbus, Ohio 43206). For more information about this project, including maps and a future trip planning utility, visit COTA’s official website.

Pocket Park at Morrill & Bruck

It's time to renew the lease from the City for the pocket park at Morrill and Bruck. The resident who previously held this lease on behalf of the neighborhood no longer wishes to do so. As such, the MVA board has agreed to register the lease under the MVA for one year. The fee for this lease is $10.00. We are looking for residents who are interested in helping to maintain this pocket park in our neighborhood. If you'd like to be involved in this effort, reach out to us at MVA@merionvillage.org.

United Way NPG Program

The MVA Board submitted a request last week to be considered by the 2017 United Way Neighborhood Partnership Grants program. This program has contributed to a number of projects within our neighborhood for many years and we’re excited to have an opportunity to continue improving our community. Our request this year is related to the MVA Presence Development Project. We will be looking to work collaboratively with organizations and associations in and around Merion Village to develop the overall presence of our organizations, enhance the tools we use to reach the community and improve access to various resources for our residents and businesses. This project is currently in the initial planning phase so we’ll be reaching out to groups and leaders in the community to develop a network of collaborators and will share updates as they are available. We will learn in April if our proposal for grant funds has been accepted by the United Way of Central Ohio.

Additionally, the MVA Board prepared a letter of support for South Central Commons in their efforts to obtain a grant from this program which will support the South Urban Academy High School Band and Drill Team. The Board also agreed to act as the fiscal agent for the Tatoheads Community Garden for the second year in a row in their request for an additional United Way NPG grant funds. We wish all those in our community who are seeking grants this year the best of luck!

Beginning this month, the MVA Newsletter is now available to all interested parties!
