CCC Computrainer Virtual Reality Racing Series
Brrrrr, it’s that time of year again when short-sleeves and tan lines are traded for booties and arm-warmers. For those dedicated cycling devotees among us wishing to apply themselves over the winter months in order to get off to a flying start to the 11/12 season, or simply just those trying to stay fit, it is a tough time of the year!
This winter is already proving to be one of the coldest we’ve ever had and it is in light of these apocalyptic conditions that the Canberra Cycling Club, in conjunction with Fun and Fitness in Manuka, are running the first ever Computrainer Virtual Reality Racing Series!

Wagga Junior Tour Race Report
Canberra Cycling Club Juniors descended into Wantabadgery in droves to compete in the 15th Wagga Wagga Junior Tour. 25 Canberra Cycling Club juniors registered for the event and were well represented across most age groups except U9 and U11.
The tour comprised four stages, with a prologue time trial (Stage 1), followed by a road race (Stage 2) on day one and two road races on Day two (stages three and four). Many of the ACT riders were part of the CCC Junior Development Program coached by John Armstrong. It was also great to see the coach out there on the first day providing guidance to all of the riders prior to their races.

Symonston Street Crit - Race Results
Overall it was a great turn out for the even with 105 riders! More encouragingly there was a strong turn out from our junior riders with 10 riders competing in the specific 'junior' grade and a few more opting to ride in ME/MD grade. This is no doubt a reflection of the great work that Jessica is doing with our junior riders!
The highlight of the afternoon was probably the MA/MB grade. With a large field combined of close to 40 riders, the committee decided that if we were to conduct a race here again that we should schedule time to race the grades separately. Despite the numbers, the field still managed to handle themselves well on the course - without crashes!
Unfortunately we did have 2 crashes in both the Junior and MC grade. In the Junior grade Jesse Hopkins feel and took some skin off but was OK. In MC grade, Steve Calabria came down quite hard and as a suspected broken wrist - has anyone heard anything from him? From what i am aware, Tim Ward took some details and filled a report.
All in all it was a great race and from the feedback we got from the riders they all seemed to enjoy it to! I think we should definitely try and schedule a race on this circuit again!!!!
Big thank you to Jason, Peter, David and Jess for helping out over the weekend!
