DON'T WORK MORE THAN 8H PER DAY!

When I say people shouldn’t work more than 8 hours per day, they usually look at me, scared. It happens all the time. Do I work 9–12 hours per day sometimes? Definitely. Sometimes we have deadlines and need to work late to get things done or we don’t have much to do besides work, right!?

You might be thinking, why does she say I shouldn't work more than 8h per day then? At a certain point, it can be counterproductive to work long hours. Instead of risking burn out, why not change how we look at overtime? A good reason why we shouldn’t work overtime very often is your health, and don't forget that productivity is not linear!

I find myself studying and finding ways to have a better work-life balance. Here are some tips I have learned:

  1. Give Yourself Breaks
  2. Know Yourself (and also your team)
  3. Divide and Conquer
  4. Free Meeting Day
  5. Effective Measurement
  6. PM it Right!
  7. Remove Everything that is Unnecessary
  8. Have a Positive Mindset
