Hey <<First Name>>,

This week I’ve been mostly listening to podcasts.

There’s a new kid on the block: White Line Diva has got you covered for something we’ve been missing: sports comedy musicals. And so much more. Bravo to Angela Pippos and Bobby Macumber.

Tweet by Danielle Warby: I just added @WhiteLineDiva to my list of Aussie #WomenInSport podcasts. @angelapippos and @BobbyMacumber are an absolute hoot. So do yourself a favour and listen up.

This week in women’s sport, the Young Matildas have advanced through to the final of the AFF Women’s Championships where they play Thailand. Tonight. That’s the senior women’s national team of Thailand thank you very much. The team that the Matildas just managed to beat recently. On penalties. I assume there will also be a stream of this game, check in with the Matildas on twitter. KO at 10pm AEST.

There were 3 retirements in netball. Count ‘em: 1, 2, 3. Liz Ellis is asking some questions. Something’s afoot. No clues in Lisa Alexander’s chat with Holly Ransom from a couple of weeks ago but it’s well worth the listen. We’ll eagerly await the announcement of the Diamonds World Cup team next week.

Also retiring is this legend:

Tweet from Aus Cycling Team: NEWS | @Katrin_Garfoot announces retirement from cycling. “I am content with my journey over the past few years. I thank everyone involved and everyone who supported me.”

A heap of elite athletes, including Australia’s Madeleine Pape have signed an open letter to the IAAF to rescind its discriminatory regulations aimed at female athletes with naturally-elevated levels of testosterone. Madeline, who competed against Caster in the 800m “was… an elite athlete willing to stand by and even participate when mobs of people – athletes, fans, officials, media personnel – came after South African 800m runner Caster Semenya at the World Championships in 2009.” This is how she changed her mind.

Some of the data the IAAF has used is fill of holes:

Tweet from Danielle Warby: Independent researchers found that performance data used in the study was inaccurate 17 - 33% of the time. That's 220 errors. But sure, let's ban Caster Semeny based on that! That's not science. That's discrimination.

Want more World Cups?

Of course you do:

Tweet from Hockeyroos: The #HWC2018 is coming up as we strive to go one better than 2014 when we won silver!! Don't miss it on @FoxSportsAUS from 21 July!!!

Have a good week sports fans!
