Great news! We raised £165,000 to protect the Amazonian Andes
We did it! Thanks to an incredible show of support to protect one of the richest habitats on Earth, we will be able to save 400 acres of tropical forest in the Amazonian Andes of Ecuador, one of the most species rich habitats on Earth.
We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to our generous supporters, we reached our goal of £165,000 that will ensure this vital area of land can be put into the permanent protection of our partner Fundación Jocotoco.
Sadly, there is always more precious wilderness that is vulnerable to destruction, and we continue to support our partner organisations to help them protect areas under critical threat.
So, today, we are launching a new appeal to save ancient forests in Central Mexico with our partner Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda (GESG). An area of 578 acres has just become available to purchase and protect in Sierra Gorda and each acre of habitat can be bought and protected by a donation of £100 (a donation of £25 will save 1,000m²).
The mountain forests of Sierra Gorda are home to rare salamanders, tiny hummingbirds, big cats and other vulnerable Mexican wildlife, but they are being destroyed by man-made forest fires and land clearance. Can you help protect them?
