Regina Office Now Open!

The FASD Network is very excited to announce that we have opened a satellite office in Regina! The new office is now open in the Administration Centre for Sport, Culture & Recreation located at 1870 Lorne Street.

We would like to thank the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health for providing funding for this expansion of our services. Our new Support Worker in Regina will offer the same level of support and services as our team in Saskatoon. He will provide direct support to families and individuals with FASD through one-on-one assistance and case management. Our Support Team works with the individuals to clarity short-term goals and determine a plan to reach these goals. They also help identify strategies for success at home, school, and work as well as advocate for services and more understanding of FASD.

To access our new Regina support services you can contact our Support Program manager or send in this referral sheet to:

FASD & Behaviours

The behaviours that result from FASD can be challenging but they are often misunderstood or misinterpreted.

Here are some quick hand-outs we use to help people understand that the behaviours are often a result of the disability and the individual’s environment. Most behaviours are not intentional, they are often a way of communicating.

  • Examples of FASD and behavioural disabilities
  • An adapted chart to help understand the behavioural characteristics of FASD that overlap with other mental-health related diagnoses
  • An adapted chart to help understand how behaviours can be the result of a poor fit between our expectations and an individual’s abilities.
  • Quick strategies for behaviours

'Fort Frenzy' for kids with FASD

The Network is holding another event for children with FASD to come build cardboard forts with officers from the Saskatoon Police Service.

It will be a fun and creative afternoon where kids with FASD will get the chance to not only meet other kids with FASD but also learn that police officers are safe professionals in our communities.

Thursday, August 16th
at the Saskatoon Police Station
(76 25th St East, Saskatoon)
starting at 1:30 pm

This cost-free event is open to children living with FASD who would enjoy building a fort for a few hours. The Network will supply all the materials needed for the forts but we ask that each child has an adult attending to provide supervision. There are limited spots available so RSVP early to get your spot.
