Vision

After 6 months off to finish my new book, I'm back to these newsletters. The book is We’re Gainin’: Collins Brook, A Maine Free School - A Memoir. What kept me going day after day, writing at the dining room table, was a vision of the completed book. I held the vision not in my mind but in my heart, as I did years ago, standing to envision a new school building, above.

Over the years, the visions came, in addition to a free school, such as a passive solar house, new hospices, the perfect coastal sailing sloop, a local chapter of the United Nations, a blended family, a center for grieving children, a chaplaincy school.

The still, small voice within, that precious keeper of visions, struggles to be heard under my chatter. I ask myself, "Who is it that has visions, these intimate hopes, thoughts and prayers? Who watches this person having these visions?" Perhaps The True Visionary.

Spiritual Companionship

I continue to offer Spiritual Companionship: individual meetings for students in my home office sanctuary, opportunities to develop interfaith spiritual practice, explore the everyday divine, discern what God might be asking, create sacred space to listen to the still, small voice within, and other ways to honor and join the eternal Presence, the Mystery.

Each meeting opens with a silent meditation framed by the sound of a Tibetan singing bowl.
