Hey y’all!

We are almost done with week one of my first master class, otherwise known as AMC, and having so much fun. I am very impressed with the creativity of this small group. We have independent designers creating a closet organization system, a piano music bag, a homeschooling desk in a bag, a set of six chair cushions, a car organizer, a planner and art satchel, a craft travel tote, a convertible vinyl bag and more! If this sounds like something you would be interested in participating in we will be opening registration for AMC Session II in late September.

In the meantime, we are introducing Creative Chats which is an opportunity for you to participate in a 30 to 45 minute mini video hangout with me and 9 friends. The topic will vary for each chat and our current lineup includes chats about “How I use my planner”, “Sewing studio organization” and “Etsy shop management with Q & A”.  We are offering six sessions this month and the first one begins Tuesday, July 17th. You can reserve your seat now for $7.99 by visiting Andrea Chapman Designs and selecting the topic, date and time that works for you. Feel free to attend one or all three! If you have ideas for future topics of discussion please reply to this email with your ideas and I will add those the the list.

Furthermore, we will also be hosting two new in studio workshops in July. The first, Sewing 101, is a geared especially for the new sewer and will cover sewing basics while familiarizing participants with their sewing machine. The second workshop is an all day event during which we will make my Patchwork Craft Caddy and partake in a 60 minute maker discussion over lunch. Materials are included with both events and participants will only need to bring their machine, thread and scissors.  If you will be traveling to attend or prefer to stay overnight in the area, reach out and we can make hotel suggestions for you. For your planning purposes the studio is located in The Plains, Virginia and on the third floor of a building that has no elevator. If you need help, we will be available to carry up your machine; but, you will need to climb two flights of stairs in order to access the studio.

This weekend we will have the opportunity to work with the waxed canvas I have been telling you about in the Messenger Bag Tutorial scheduled to be uploaded on July 14th. I am excited to show you how lovely this material is!

Until then, please know the creative genius in me will be celebrating the creative genius in you!

XO,
Andrea

P.S. I talk more about the new workshops and creative chats in this week's studio update

Here is last week's ultimate commuter tote bag tutorial in case you missed it!
Wax Canvas is a durable and strong multi-purpose material that is resistant to tearing. The wax finish makes the canvas protected from rain, moisture and most importantly, time. This material has a lifespan that appears to be ageless. It can go years upon years without having to be washed and performs well in both hot and cold temperatures. Waxed canvas can be used to make outdoor gear, tote bags, backpacks and more!
I love the vintage look wax canvas offers and it stitches up beautifully. My favorite source for this material is Big Duck Canvas.
