Global Solidarity Challenge

Are you ready for the challenge?
We are less than 2 weeks away from this year's GSC and things are already heating up, but it's not too late to join!! This year we have 4 teams to choose from, representing each decade that VIDEA has been inspiring thought and action on global issues, and reflects the values integral to our work. Register for a team by clicking on the logo:

How does the challenge work?!

A fundraiser of epic proportions, the GSC unites the VIDEA community from far and wide for a week long fundraiser that is guaranteed to generate emotions of excitement, reflection, and often...competition;). Here is a quick 'how to' on the GSC:

  • Pick 1+ challenge(s) to complete throughout the week. The many potential challenges range from difficult and thought-provoking, to fun and easier to complete for anyone on vacation or travelling during this time! And you can create your own challenge too - what does solidarity mean to you? How do you chose to demonstrate this?
  • Reach out to your personal networks, like family, friends and colleagues, and tell them about what you're doing!
  • Ask those you're engaging with to donate to VIDEA through your very own personalized page on the GSC website.

At the end of the challenge, the team that raises the most money wins!  But don't worry, we also give big shout outs to individual participants with awards throughout the Challenge (some of which are very unique)!

Is there a prize for your efforts? You bet!

In partnership with our travel partner, Raptim Humanitarian Travel, Global Solidarity participants have the chance to win a once in a life time opportunity to visit one of VIDEA's projects in south and east Africa, deepening their knowledge about international development and seeing for themselves some of the work that we take part in. For every $40 you raise your name will be entered into a draw to win this grand prize!!!

Partners like Raptim play a huge supporting role in the work of organisations such as VIDEA. Click their logo & head to their website to learn more about the work of this non-profit organisation:
Announcing Our First GSC Awards:
Congrats to Lisa Hernandez for winning the “The Human Writes” Award. Lisa will be walking everywhere for her challenge and when she’s forced to drive, she will walk 10 minutes for every km driven. Go to 00's page on the GSC website to read her inspiring personal page detailing her experience seeing VIDEA’s projects in Zambia and South Africa, and how they inspired her challenge this year. We see a Pulitzer Prize in your future, Lisa!

Our first GSC award "The Zero Hero Award" goes to Lisa Slager! This is Lisa’s first time participating in the GSC and she is rocking it. She is taking on a zero waste challenge and bringing attention to social justice issues that are occurring due to environmental destruction! Keep up the great work, Lisa, you’re a star!

Want to support this initiative without participating? Every donation helps!
