JUNE UPDATE
June was a busy month for River Keepers!

We kicked off the month on the 4th with the Lil' Fisherman's Derby and Clinic in partnership with the FM Walleyes where youth and their families learned how to fish and then practiced those skills in the Red River.

On Monday, June 11th we held the largest Race the Red canoe and kayak races to date with 61 vessels (including one stand up paddle board) participating.  There were a few additions to the race this year including a best decorated vessel contest, a buoy toss game, a River Keepers photo prop and the Heavenly Hawg food truck.

Other notable activities include the Aviary River Paddling Excursion on June 27th led by Fargo-Moorhead Audubon with 22 paddlers.  In addition, we brought many educational activities to events like Midwest Kidfest, the Police Community Picnic and the Fargo Public Library Summer Reading Program to teach youth and adults about the Red River.

Shortly after the clinic was Reforest the Red in Moorhead where volunteers planted 800 trees at Original Homestead Park in Moorhead.  Thanks to the City of Moorhead and River Network for their support and partnership of this event.

The 8th annual Catfish Cup Golf Scramble was held on June 18th at Edgewood Golf Course in Fargo with 18 teams participating.
