More exciting arts events, news and happenings in the Moreton Bay Region brought to you by the Moreton Bay Arts Council.
Another month has flown by so quickly. We have some positive news! The Moreton Bay Regional Council have given us the opportunity to submit an Application for Tenancy 3 - Community Space at the MBRC Redcliffe Administration Centre, (opposite the R.S.L.). Two other groups, U3A and The Redcliffe Art Gallery, have already been given the other two spaces. The space offered in the Tenancy 3 has a small and large room linked. We have viewed the space and it would be just perfect for us to work with and for the creative community.
In our application we have proposed:
Small room: open to the public Wed-Sun – exhibition space - artist of the month, artist demonstrations. Large room:
a) Night time: for choir, drama and poet groups rehearsals and our MBAC monthly meetings.
b) Daytime – business development workshops, forums, artists talks
c) Open studio day for collaboration “Multidisciplinary Artists”
d) Offer an Artist in Residence program annually for 6 weeks (applications 1x regional artist and 1x outside the region – Australian). Include: Community involvement, and outcomes will link into the “Generate Festival”.
e) Mentorship 6-week program for six regional creatives “Meet the Makers” (EOI entry) proposed from Dec 2019.
Now we just have to wait and trust we are successful. The MBAC has worked very hard over 15 years for an opportunity like this. Let’s hope and pray it’s our time. The successful group will be confirmed by the end of July and the space will not be available until next year.
Some other great news - Congratulations to...
