Fire Starter Festival 2019 - Igniting New Fires!

Fire Starter Festival will be back 28 January - 8 February 2019 - and this year we will be kicking off the whole festival with our launch event on the 28 January in Dundee

Taster Sessions

As part of the run up to Fire Starter Festival 2019 we will be hosting taster sessions across Scotland throughout the autumn.

These events are a great opportunity for potential hosts and participants to find out a little more about the festival, to meet some really interesting people and organisations from their local communities, and to start to think about the small fires of change that they can start in 2019.

Taster sessions - like the Fire Starter Festival - are open to anyone who is interested. You might have participated in the Festival before, or you might be completely new to it and just want to learn a little more. All are welcome!

Can't make it to one of the sessions below? We are really happy to come along to speak to groups or organisations interested in participating in Fire Starter Festival - just email
ingage@gov.scot.

What is Fire Starter Festival?
Not heard of Fire Starter Festival before, and not sure what it's all about or why you should get involved?

The Fire Starter Festival is an annual festival highlighting and celebrating innovation and creativity in Scottish public services, with a particular focus on transformational change. The Festival is curated and organised by Scottish Government, with events hosted by a broad range of public sector, third sector and community organisations.

Why not watch our quick 60 second introduction to the festival, filmed with hosts, participants and speakers from previous events, and let them tell you what they see as the draw of Fire Starter Festival!
Still not convinced? Watch our video about our Silent Launch at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in 2018, and hear First Minister Nicola Sturgeon talk about the power and impact of Fire Starter Festival!
Breakfast Club and Conversation Cafes
Join us for the Breakfast Club - the creative way to start your day!

The Breakfast Club is open to anyone who wants to have a chat about mischief making and system shaking. Come along, buy a coffee (and a pastry if you fancy) and have a chat with a really interesting mix of people about whatever topic emerges that morning.

We run monthly breakfast clubs throughout the year, in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. For more information please visit our eventbrite page.
In addition to our monthly Breakfast Clubs, we also host the occasional, more focussed 'Conversation Cafe'. These events, like Breakfast Club, are open to all comers, with the topic advertised in advance. Our next Conversation Cafe will be at Brewhemia, Edinburgh on 15 August from 10am, where we will explore what next for Fire Starter Festival. Sign up below!

Fire Starter Festival on Tour!
Over the autumn we will be taking Fire Starter Festival on tour, visiting Cardiff, Birmingham and Dublin to hold some taster sessions, and speak to local system shakers, change makers and public services about the Festival and what impact it might have in the rest of the UK and Ireland.
If you have any contacts in Ireland, Wales or the Midlands who you think would be interested in Fire Starter Festival, please let us know at ingage@gov.scot and we will try to catch up with them while we are there!
