Thank You to The Lucy Pet Foundation
Carl Dogs Love Your Gifts!
July 25, 2018
Lucy Pet Foundation donated over 400 bags of dog food to C.A.R.L. This food will feed our dogs for the rest of the year. This dog food is top of the line. We want to thank Betsy and Lindsay from Lucy Pet Foundation, for reaching out to Toni H to donate the dog food and a big thank you to Rick and Jenifer for bringing this wonderful bounty and gift to C.A.R.L. Thank you for saving lives every day.
And, Thank You to the team of volunteers that volunteer at the mobile events held in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Newbury Park (East Ventura County). They facilitated the donation of 420 bags of dog food. It is always great to know we are appreciated. Although we do it for the dogs, it takes the people to let us know we are appreciated. Each of us do great things to save, feed, and love our dogs at the kennel or pets at home. Thank goodness for all of you.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day
August 28th
The English poet Alfred Austin wrote that “Tears are the summer showers to the soul.” Just as a rainbow can frequently be seen in the sky after a rainfall, the tears we as pet parents shed over the passing of a beloved cat or dog helps our hearts see the reflection of Rainbow Bridge.
No one knows who penned The Rainbow Bridge poem, but its words have consoled countless animal lovers during their time of sorrow. Like an elusive rainbow’s end, when we lose a furry family member they may go to a land that we cannot now reach, but the thought that our fur babies are at play with other pets who have passed on and are waiting at Rainbow Bridge for the day when we are happily reunited helps to bring color back into our lives.
In honor of all of our friends with fur, feathers or fins who we have said farewell to, Deborah Barnes–the author of the award-winning blog Zee & Zoey’s Cat Chronicles and the recently unleashed book Purr Prints of the Heart: A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death and Beyond–has created Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.
Choosing August 28th in memory of the day in 2013 when she said goodbye to her purring pal Mr. Jazz, Barnes has set up a special Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day event page on Facebook so pet parents can gather in the virtual world to celebrate the life of their late pet by posting a photo or poem.

C.A.R.L Boutique Thrift Store Update
New Location! 2750 E Main St, Ventura. (in the "old Sears building) next to Smart & Final on one side and Western Dental on the other.
We are totally moved into the new location. It was a long arduous weekend. Many thanks to all who helped with the move -Shelly and her family, Laura, Val, Julie, Dee, Brenda, the Navy volunteers, Pat. My apologies to those whose names I did not know -my omission, but my gratitude and appreciation is profound. We could not have done it without you.
Exceptional recognition to Jen Hurt, store manager, for her creativity, work ethic, persistence and being who she is!
Also special recognition to Sean whose strength moved "the stuff." His knowledge of what needed to be done and how to do it, kept us on track. His willingness to "be there" every day, not just the moving weekend but the following days to "sort it out" defines what volunteering it all about. He never failed to do anything asked of him.
Sharon, all day/both days, not only packed and loaded "stuff" at our old location, she then drove her truck and unloaded at the new store. Wonder Woman!
Now it's a matter of arranging the footprint of the store. Still lots to be done. We could surely use help.
Hope to be open for business by August 13th.

Please continue to donate your plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Recycling centers are located on the kennel grounds. We would request that the bottles and cans be placed in SEPARATE bags as this makes the delivery to the recycling center go smoothly.
