Youth Mission Trip 2018!

A couple Last Minute Requests...

Do you have a large cooler we could borrow for the week?

Do you have any empty, lidded, sterilized 1-gallon containers (a.k.a. milk jugs) we could have?

Pre-Launch Info for the Youth

Meet at church at 11:30 am
with lunch in your belly!

Are you ready for a great trip?!!  Below you will find valuable information for our upcoming mission trip.  Along with a schedule, there is a handy checklist of items we recommend that you bring.  Please use the checklist as you pack (see next sentence).  We also ask that you please limit your luggage to one suitcase and one school backpack plus your sleeping bag.  There is a complete list of items to bring on the Official Checklist; however, I’d like to draw your attention to a few of the items:
  • SACK “SUPPER” FOR SATURDAY.  Eat lunch before you come to Church of the Saviour.  We may stop at a rest area on the way down, but we won’t be stopping for food.
  • WORK CLOTHES FOR THE WEEK, INCLUDING CLOSED-TOE WORKSHOES (Sorry – no sandals or flip-flops at the work sites).  T-SHIRT AND SHORTS ARE OK; BRING AT LEAST ONE PAIR OF JEANS (should be stuff that you’re OK with getting ruined).  It is likely going to be very HOT.
  • MONEY FOR FRIDAY LUNCH (fast food), & OPTIONAL SPENDING MONEY FOR THE WEEK (stops by the ice cream shack or convenience store).
  • SNACK TO SHARE (snack depends on grade level – see checklist) for the evening snack table and lunches.
  • YOUR BIBLE – let Curt know if you don’t have one – we’ll gladly give you one to keep!
  • UNBREAKABLE, REUSABLE DRINKING CUP – with your name written on it.
  • WATER BOTTLE – with your name written on it.
  • YOUR HARD-WORKING, FUN-LOVING, PEOPLE-HELPING SELF.

MEET AT 11:30 AM on SATURDAY in the church parking lot.  We’ll LEAVE PROMPTLY AT 12:30 PM.  It’s important for us to meet at 11:30 so that we can check everyone in, haul supplies out of the church, pack the trailer, organize our car pools, pray, and be ready to leave right at 12:30.

Youth are not permitted to have cell phones, so it’s important that your family has the emergency contact numbers and addresses.  Don’t hug your parent goodbye unless your phone is in their hand.  Please understand, it’s not techno-phobia, it’s a desire for you to get away and be fully present with our group.

*****  IMPORTANT DATES  *****
Sunday, July 15 – wear your T-Shirts to church!
Thursday, July 26, 7:00 PM – ICE CREAM SOCIAL & SLIDE SHOW!!! (wear your shirts!)

I know that you’re looking forward to a great trip.  This is a ministry YOU have chosen to do, and the blessings and rewards for you and those you serve will be HUGE!!!  Start praying now for God to use us in every way God can.

Something to Think About....

Don’t hesitate to be enthusiastic—be on fire in the Spirit as you serve the Lord!
--- Romans 12:11 (CEB)

Take a minute to talk with God.  How's your enthusiasm when it comes to serving the Lord?  What can you do to prepare the fire so the Holy Spirit can ignite it?  How can you Light the Way?
