Student Veterans of America and Prudential
Announce the 2018 Leadership Institute

Applications are being accepted from high-performing chapter members who seek to become the next great generation of American leadership.

Washington, D.C. – Student Veterans of America (SVA) and Prudential announced their continued partnership by hosting the 2018 SVA Leadership Institute: the premier foundational leadership experience for top SVA chapter members across the country. Participating chapter members will partake in this once in a lifetime, all expenses paid leadership training experience from September 20 - 23, 2018, at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

“We are excited for another year of the Leadership Institute - allowing SVA to empower our chapter members in becoming the leaders of tomorrow,” said Jared Lyon, President and CEO of SVA. “It is our commitment to set chapter members up for success by providing them with the resources and support needed to excel in their chapter, campus, and community. Working with Prudential, we will make an impact together, by empowering these student veterans to apply their leadership ethos, to sustain their chapters, and achieve their academic and professional goals."

“SVA continues to do great work to support our nation’s veterans as they move into higher education after their military service,” said Charles Sevola, vice president and head of Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial. “The SVA Leadership Institute program is an excellent vehicle to further develop their leadership skills to drive meaningful change, not only at the student veterans’ campuses, but in their careers after graduation. Prudential is proud to partner with SVA in this important work.”

The 2018 Leadership Institute will gather a select group of chapter leaders to guide, teach and mentor them into becoming effective leaders in their chapters, at their universities and within their communities. This highly selective program brings together those who are open to new ideas, have a passion for learning and are eager to share and collaborate with others.

The 2017 Leadership Institute was hosted at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, TX and saw 93 chapter leaders successfully graduate. Upon graduating, the Class of 2017 had a significantly increased understanding of how their personal values directly supported and reinforced their leadership philosophy. Graduates defined their personal leadership vision and developed an action plan to implement said vision in chapters, colleges, and communities across America.
