It’s summer (finally!), and in the hot weather, we love to cool off with an ice pop. But not just any ice pops—we look for ones with little or no added sugar and lots of good nutrition. But obviously, they have to taste amazing, too. Yes, you can have all of that—here are some recipes we love, and a few store-bought options as well.

These festive bars are a great update to the classic favorite. They have no added sugar and are non-GMO—and even use spirulina as a coloring agent.

Chloe's Pops

Made with only 3 ingredients (fruit, water & a bit of cane sugar), these fruit pops come in a variety of crowd-pleasing flavors, most fruity and even a delicious chocolate!

Mixed Berry-Basil Ice Pops We love these tasty pops (created by our own resident chef, Beth, for Health magazine) because along with summer’s best low-sugar, nutrient-packed fruit, berries, they also feature basil. This flavorful herb, so abundant in summer, is anti-inflammatory and loaded with antioxidants.

Green Monster Popsicles With just 5 simple ingredients (spinach, kale, banana, pineapple and water) and no added sugar, these super-green pops are a perfectly delicious and cool way to get great nutrition. And we love the idea of giving them a fun name so kids will like them, too.

Watermelon-Cucumber-Lime Popsicles Watermelon and cucumbers are cousins botanically, so it’s no wonder their flavors blend together so beautifully in these vitamin C-rich, ultra-refreshing, hydrating ice pops. Add a bit of chili powder if you’re feeling adventurous.

Healthy Fudgsicles We are always looking for ways to enjoy chocolate and stay healthy—mission accomplished with these rich ice pops. The secret ingredient that makes them so creamy and luscious? Healthy fat- and fiber-rich avocado. It sounds weird, but they’re truly so delicious. (Don’t tell anyone they’re healthy.)

Pickle Popsicles Right now you’re probably either thinking, “What? That’s so weird!” or “Mmmmm, that sounds amazing.” If you prefer salty treats, you’ll love these pops, which are fantastic for hydrating and replacing electrolytes after a workout. Make them in small molds; a little goes a long way, and you don’t want to overdo the salt.

Strawberry-Yogurt Popsicles with Granola Ice pops for breakfast? Why not, when they’re made with wholesome ingredients like yogurt, strawberries and granola? We make these with plain full-fat yogurt and a splash of vanilla instead of sweetened yogurt and choose low-sugar (or our own homemade) granola, and they’re still a crowd-pleasing, satisfying and unexpected summer treat any time of day.

Pro tip:  Stephanie’s son Julian loves his mommy’s super-healthy (and easy!) ice-pop recipe. Blend 2 bananas with 1 avocado, pour into molds and freeze. Delicious!
