What's New With M.O.R.R.!
Holy Moly! What a great 4th of July! We hope everyone else had a good one too!
The quick and dirty overview is incoming!
We went out on The Rubicon July 3rd for the day. Someone in the group grenaded an axle shaft at the bottom of Walker Hill, 3 miles into the trip! So, we spent the next 4 hours on top of Walker Hill at the cell phone tree, using Facebook and our ham radio to try and source some axles. Turns out we were able to find not only 1 set, but 5! So, I left to the nearest set: Auburn. And the rest of the group was left in the trail. 2 rigs stayed at the bottom of Walker, and 3 rigs went in to Buck, and I went out Wentworth to Auburn.
What was incredible, was that we never lost communication with each other. We were all spread out over a 80 mile separation, but still were able to talk to each other and give updates on meeting times and locations. There is no way we could have done that without Ham Radio!
Since the last newsletter, we have been working on those trail reviews that we promised! Well, we got the template made! Now it is just a matter of plugging in all of the information for each trail. So far, we got Barrett Lake and Hell Hole Reservoir up. We should be adding Signal Peak and Deer Valley before the next newsletter. Maybe the Rubicon too... we will see! Check them out below!
The MORRFlates have been doing great! We are getting some great feedback on them so far! If you missed the early bird special, you can get one at 15% off with the coupon code "get15morr". Check out the full article below!
And last but not least! We got the Tech class all back up and running! Everyone's class progress has been reset. A bunch of questions got reworded, and some new sections in Modules 8 and 7.B were added covering digital repeaters and chinese radio harmonics (what??). Have a great time and let us know if you have any questions on the new questions!
