Hello, everybody!

How are we already in August?! The summer heat has been brutal, but it hasn't stopped us from answering your questions, defining new terms, and envisioning new resources. We thought it was a good time to pop into your inboxes again with a little update on all things My Kid Is Gay.

We're always looking for new and upcoming writers who want to contribute to My Kid Is Gay, whether you are a parent, a young person, or an expert in your field. If you're interested, just fill out this form!
My Kid Is Gay will always be free and accessible to everyone who needs it—and that is in large part due to generous donations from people like you! We’ll never stop working to help parents understand and celebrate their LGBTQIA kids, but we need your help so we can grow our resources and expand our reach to families who need it most.

If you're able to help, please consider becoming a monthly donor on our Patreon page for as little as $1 a month. Once we hit our first financial goal, we will be able to start working on a sequel to our Coming Out with Care e-care package that focuses specifically on educating and supporting parents with transgender and non-binary kids, so they can do the important work of accepting and celebrating their kids for who they are.

Parent Highlight: Jamie Bruesehoff

Nothing makes us happier than seeing parents changing the world for their kid and the LGBTQ community as a whole. Jamie Bruesehoff is an incredible writer, speaker, and advocate for transgender young people in New Jersey, in addition to being the mom of three kids (including a transgender daughter, Rebekah) and a clergy spouse. In the last few months, Jamie has put on events in her community focused on making churches safer and more accepting for LGBTQ youth and was recently a speaker at the ELCA National Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas and at the New Jersey Trans Youth Forum. She also works alongside other local advocates in New Jersey, most recently on a new bill that was passed that removes the surgery requirement for changing a gender marker on a birth certificate, and adds a non-binary gender marker as well!

Jamie also writes about her life on her blog and gives some pretty incredible advice here on My Kid Is Gay! It’s parents like Jamie, and kids like Rebekah, that help us see a brighter future ahead 🌟

Books Books Books!
We’re a bunch of book lovers over here, and we love checking out new books that feature positive LGBTQ representation! Here are some of our favorites that you should consider adding to your kid’s bookshelf 📚

Thanks so much for being a part of our My Kid Is Gay community.

Happy Summer!
