EVENT WRAP UP
Over 1000 riders from Kaitaia to Invercargill competed in the North Island School Road and Track Championships and the South Island School Road Championships in Timaru and Cambridge during the school holidays.

Congratulations to all those riders that took part, especially those who took home North and South Island titles. Stand out performances were seen from Ally Wollaston and Jack Carswell from St Peters School, Cambridge, Laurence Pithie from Christchurch Boys High and Phoebe Young from Mt Aspiring College, Wanaka. You can check out full results here and full event wrap-up here.
KNOW YOUR SPORT
You might have noticed that the rule (11.15 to be precise) regarding the restrictions of ‘aero’ helmets has been removed from the Cycling New Zealand Schools rule book. This means as long as your helmet complies with NZ Traffic Regulations and is standards approved you're good to go!

Talk to your school Cycling Coach, Team Manager or someone at your local club and they will be able to advise the best helmet to suit your level of experience and needs.

While talking about helmets don't forget your helmet must be worn at all times during warm up, racing, warm down and at any other time that the bike is being ridden and is going forwards or backwards. That includes parents and supporters too!

SUBWAY NATIONAL TRACK SERIES
It was awesome to see so many familiar faces from Schools Cycling taking part in Round 2 of the Subway National Track Series in Cambridge earlier this month.

This series is open to U17 through to U23 riders, to provide track racing opportunities in a competitive and supported environment. The objectives of the series include offering riders the opportunity to develop increased tactical and technical awareness (and bunch skills for Endurance riders) and to provide riders with relevant and practicable educational, coaching and tactical/technical workshops. The series is also designed to provide a platform for coaches to share experience and knowledge and provide opportunities to grow understanding on the skills specific to guiding, coaching and supporting their young riders.

If this sounds like it's up your alley, get along to Round 3 from the 24 - 26 August in Cambridge. Click here for more information.
