Urgent need for funds so that the surgery can happen!

Dear companions of the Road,                                                   July 20, 2018
We've all been waiting for this good news:  Loriyegebaa, who had surgery six weeks ago to resolve the hycrocephalus that had caused her spinal scoliosis, has recovered and is doing well! So her second surgery, to straighten her spine, is potentially scheduled for the first week of August.
Glenn was able to get more information yesterday from Dr. Boachie, the specialist at FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital in Ghana who will perform this delicate operation. In order for the surgery to take place, we have to be able to pay at least 80% of the cost.
We have already been amazed at the response of God's people to help Lori get these surgeries, to have greater life expectancy and more normal straight posture. Her first surgery and rehabilitation fees have all been covered. We cannot thank you enough for your active compassion!
Now we face this new challenge:
In the next two weeks, we need to raise $8,700!
That amount would complete what we already have on hand ($8,500), so that we could put down that 80% of the total cost that would allow the surgery to take place.
The total that we still need to raise is $15,000, to cover both the surgery and predicted rehabilitation. BUT THE URGENT NEED IS THIS $8,700 BY AUGUST 1st !

We are relying on the Father of the needy to provide out of his resources, through his people. Thank you so much for all you have already done -- and now, please pray for this miracle to take place!

MORE PRAYER FODDER:

Dr. Boachie expects Glenn to return to Ghana, to be there with Sita during this second very delicate surgery. (Sita, Lori's mother, does not understand English, and Ghana is an anglophone country. Having Glenn's support and translations to French of information would be very helpful for both mother and daughter.) Glenn has an important board meeting to attend in Abidjan on August 1, so will probably fly to Accra (cheaper than driving, for one person) on August 2.
He will pay the 80% required by our personal credit card there in Ghana -- it's complicated, but by doing so he would save about $2,000! As funds are available he will repay our account. Thus is a faith walk!
The timing of the surgery coincides with the three-week visit of Joshua Wohlgemuth and his family to
Côte d'Ivoire before going to France for language study. Glenn was hoping to spend time with introducing him to the financial system he will be using as field treasurer when he arrives next year. Maybe it will still work out if Glenn can return after a week or so in Ghana!
